The Loyal Order of Moose newsletter is published bimonthly. The newsletter is called Moose Echo. It is a newsletter for and about the members of Leesburg Moose Lodge #1271 and Chapter #1034.
The programs that Dick uses to design this newsletter are Apple Works 6 and Photo Shop 7.
Richard Rine Receives Shining Star Trophy

Richard Rine, Editor of the Moose Newsletter for Leesburg Lodge 1271, was named Moose Journalist of the Year in a ceremony in the Paris Ballroom, Las Vegas, on June 18. He received the Shining Star trophy.

Richard said that: " In the thirty seconds alloted for the Thank yous a very nervous person managed to name everyone who had helped him achieve this Honor. Again, he would like to thank all of his reporters and helpers for helping him get this award."

Computers and Cakes
Judy Rankin decorates cakes with designs she creates and prints from her Mac.

"It's fun to see the expression on someone's face when I tell them that I use my computer to decorate a cake. Since the program I did (for VMUG) was about Print Explosion, I did a screen capture of the program's splash screen." (See demo cake above.)

Judy's printer is an S820 Canon for which you can buy cartridges of edible food coloring, not ink. The food coloring is printed onto a special paper, and then the design is peeled off the paper and laid on top of the frosted cake, making an almost instant decoration.

If you want to know more about the process, email Judy at judyrankin@mac.com

And was the cake edible? See below!
